Because I'm a hippie...

I found these awesome GreenToe shoes at Ross for $15, when they are normally $90 online! Yes, they are hemp. And the soles are repurposed tires. And they are super-comfy. Oh - and you can pull out the inserts and wash them if you have stinky feet like me!
The GreenToe website is here.
(yes, that's Buddy Beagle's belly behind the shoes)
Because I'm a designer, and a dork:

Milton Glaser :: 12 Steps on the Road to Hell

  1. Designing a package to look bigger on the shelf.
  2. Designing an ad for a slow, boring film to make it seem like a lighthearted comedy.
  3. Designing a crest for a new vineyard to suggest that it has been in business for a long time.
  4. Designing a jacket for a book whose sexual content you find personally repellent.
  5. Designing a medal using steel from the World Trade Center to be sold as a profit-making souvenir of September 11.
  6. Designing an advertising campaign for a company with a history of known discrimination in minority hiring.
  7. Designing a package aimed at children for a cereal whose contents you know are low in nutritional value and high in sugar.
  8. Designing a line of T-shirts for a manufacturer that employs child labor.
  9. Designing a promotion for a diet product that you know doesn’t work.
  10. Designing an ad for a political candidate whose policies you believe would be harmful to the general public.

And, I'm back

How embarrassing to not blog since October! What have I been up to? New jewelry (mostly dog themed, of course - pictured here) BIG improvements to the bird mobiles pictured below, work, school, more school, and... a zine!

Not involved with the Etsy for Animals Team so much anymore, but am on the management team for Handmade 4 Hounds - they have an Etsy store where 100% of sales goes to greyhound charities. And I don't even have a greyhound...yet.

What have I been up to???

Oops, it has been a WHOLE month since I last posted. In the mean time I've been working on Christmas (yes, Christmas!) ornaments and cards. (And Hannukah cards too!) And also some new felt and fabric accessories. I'm working on building my inventory so I have a table full of goodies to sell at Central FL Veg Fest at the end of the month.

Jewelry v1.0

Here is my first real attempt at jewelry, inspired by (but not duplicated!) www.seaglassdesigns.etsy.com - she does gorgeous work! I have a bunch of sea glass just sitting in a bag, I wanted to do something with it.

Vacation Day

Well, I picked a fine day for a vacation day, thank you Tropical Storm Fay (or is it a hurricane now?). I made a dog bed today to replace a yucky one - I'm getting good at sewing straight lines!
The dawgs approve.
I picked up my textbooks yesterday for The Environmental Crisis in its Cultural Context so I'd have something to read while it's storming outside. It's a fancy title for the beginning Environmental Studies class at Rollins.
